A payment-history grid summarizes how an account was reported month by month. Begin with the bureau's legend, the account identifier, and the particular month you want to examine. A blank symbol is not automatically a missed payment.
Check the underlying records
Compare the grid with statements, due dates, the creditor's transaction ledger, and payment confirmations. A bank withdrawal alone may not show when the creditor credited your account. If servicing transferred, keep records from both servicers.
Take the next step
If a month is inaccurate, name the exact month and code, explain the correct status, and attach records linking the payment to the account and date. Contact the bureau showing the error and the company furnishing it. After the response, inspect the new report rather than assuming an 'updated' result fixed that month.
Know the limits
Accurate late payments generally cannot be erased through a factual dispute. If the reporting is correct, focus on reliable on-time payments going forward.
